We often think that the human face is a hard part of the body to be draw. This can be sometimes true particularly when you happen to draw a portrait of a real human model. But then, if we just want to draw an image or a face of a man or woman then that would be easier. Try to follow the basic steps on how to draw a human face that I am going to teach you on this article.

To get a perfect real looking human face one should be aware of the proportions and measurements of its parts along with the other details to make it look cool. Follow the step below and attempt to make your own drawing.

Step 1

Cartoon characters have round heads, square and frequently distorted. Heads are often oval shaped or same to that of an egg. To begin with, we draw an oval shape. A line is to divide the oval into two; vertically from top to bottom. This will be the division or middle line that separates the left as well as the right portion of your face. Now, draw two horizontal lines across your oval that will equally divide the oval into three. The upper portion will be the forehead and hair above your eyebrow. The middle portion will be for your eyes along with the nasal. Lastly, the lowest part is made for your nose, lips and chin.

Most artists do this part in a slightly different manner. Instead of two, they only draw one horizontal line as an outline for the eye. We can also draw in that manner but that would need a lot of practice and expertise to lay out the precise proportions.

Step 2

From our previous work we again divide the lowest portion with a horizontal line. That line is where your lower lip is located. Both corners of your lips must be vertical with the center of your eyes. The size of an eye varies in every faces. The one thing is that both must have congruent sizes.

Now place two circles in the middle portion of your oval that will size-up your eye or slightly bigger than your eye. On the top of it is where each eyebrow should be and shade a part below it later to form your check. Almost everyone has problems in drawing the eye simply because of its shape. Draw the eyes together with the eyelids slightly covering the top of it. Now the iris is the small shaded circle with un-shaded spot/s of your eye. The trick behind the twinkling eyes depends on its un-shaded portions. These portions can give the emotion to every faces.

The nose will give a look on your face that makes it different or unique from the others same with the other parts of your face. The nose, eyes, lips and hair are the most common parts that give uniqueness on a man’s face.

The ears are drawn between or in the upper horizontal line that we made before down to the lower horizontal in lined the nostrils. We can draw the hair with different lengths and curves as you like. Always emphasize the change of tone on every portion not only on your hair but in all parts of the face.

Step 3

Add more details on your face, a bit of shading to emphasize the nose, give an expression to the eyes and decide the complexion or skin tone. make use of the eraser to get rid of the guidelines and to provide a clear picture on your drawing.

Try practicing these steps. You might have your first sketch way to far from good. Though you might think that you had failed on doing an outstanding work, you have already taken the initial step to perfection. The idea is not about having a brilliant work but how you practice to master the works of a brilliant.
